User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.11) Gecko/20071127 Firefox/2.0.0.11 The newsgroup alt.usenet.kooks does not appear to exist on the host news.databasix.com. Would you like to unsubscribe from it? After successfully subscribing to a number of newsgroups, and receiving up-to-date messages, subsequent attempts to download messages from the newsgroups fails, and gives above message. SeaMonkey does not remember the original subscription, and asks if I want to subscribe, then gives message. Sometimes, after clicking "Cancel" SeaMonkey will access some older messages. On restart, all newsgroups are missing, and SeaMonkey does not allow resubscription (gives above message). This is not a problem with the host news server, because I'm able to access all the same newsgroups through Entourage, using the same host. Sometimes, on clicking cancel, SeaMonkey will attempt to access each subscribed newsgroup two or three times, resulting in repeated cancellations (or unsubscribe). Random access, does not seem to cycle through the groups in any particular order. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Subscribe to newsgroup and download default number of headers (500) 2. Wait a few minutes, then click "Get Messages" 3. SeaMonkey asks (again) if you'd like to subscribe to specified newsgroup. 4. Click Yes. 5. Receive message, below. Actual Results: The newsgroup [name] does not appear to exist on the host news.databasix.com. Would you like to unsubscribe from it? Expected Results: Download new messages, remember group as subscribed Not using default port (25) for SMTP, have to use port 1225 instead. Server requires log-in to access.
Question if password manager is causing a problem. News password is stored like this: news://news.databasix.com:119/#password <> [actual password] news://news.databasix.com:119/#username <> [user name instead of password] There is no user name in the user name column, and the second line contains the user name in the password column, instead of the actual password.
Which use version of SeaMonkey? Please paste the Build Identifier as found at Help - About SeaMonkey (at the bottom). SeaMonkey 1.1 branch will only accept security and stability (crashes) fixes. Reporter, can you try and reproduce with SeaMonkey v2.0a2 or 2.0a3pre ? (They aren't stable enough for everyone's daily use yet).
SeaMonkey 1.1.14 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1.19) Gecko/20081204 SeaMonkey/1.1.14 I can try a higher version (are they available for OSX?) later this afternoon, but I've got appointments during business hours today.
Version 2.0a2 is available from http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/2.0a2
