Did you ever used the compact folders option ?
(file compact folder)
Please answer only in the bug report and not via email, thanks

>Yes, but it still won't allow new emails.

When did this started, suddenly or after you installed new anti virus software or after a crash ?

Can you move your 8 mails from your inbox to a another folder ?
If that works you can try to delete your inbox file manually and it's easy !

For doing that be sure that Thunderbird is closed, press the WindowsKEY+R (the windowsKey is on the lkeft side of the Space key) .
After you pressed the 2 keys together you should get a windows dialog, enter "%APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles" there without the "". Now navigate through the folders random.slt -> Mail -> Account Name .
You should see several files and possible folders.
Now Drag&drop the files "inbox." and inbox.msf" to your desktop. That should move this files to your desktop. Now start Thunderbird again.
If everything works you can remove the 2 files from your desktop.
