While drag'n drop, thousands of emails disappear!

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I have an IMAP folder named "OK"
2. I create a sub-folder named "OK 2"
3. I create a sub-folder named "OK 3"

So we have :

OK
--- OK 2
--- OK 3

3. I go to "OK" and select 10 000 emails, then I drag n' drop them to "OK 2"

4. I go to "OK" and select 1 000 emails, then I drag n' drop them to "OK 3"

5. There are 1 000 emails in "OK 3"

6. "OK 2" is empty! my emails are no more in "OK" and no more in "OK 2"
Actual Results:  
My emails are not in any folder, and I can't find them on the IMAP server

Expected Results:  
My emails should be in "OK 2" and "OK 3" directories

Get IMAP log, and check IMAP level flow.

If time related issue is involved, get IMAP log with timestamp/log-sequence-number using DebugView. See Bug 402793 Comment #6 for it.
If and only if Tb's fault is seen in log, and if log analysis by developer is required, attach log file to this bug(never paste, please)

do you see the message after you reindex the target folder?  right-click, properties, rebuild

likely a dupe - there are at least a couple imap bugs open. and at least one is fixed in TB3.

I'd just like to chime in and say I just experienced the same problem, but when drag-and-dropping emails from Gmail folders into entirely different IMAP accounts. This was very confusing because at the moment the drag-and-drop was done, I checked the destination IMAP accounts through a web client and the messages had successfully been moved (not just copied) were there. A while later though, apparently with no action on my part, those IMAP accounts were empty and so were the Gmail folders where I had gotten the messages from! Total data loss as far as I can see.

Pedro, if you still see this problem when using version 3, please tag into another bug (perhaps one mentioned in the gmail meta Bug 402793 or bug 469455 or bug 458570 ) or file a new bug for your own issue if it seems unique.
