With vcs, if you type vcs and hit return you get an error saying "No command ''" which seems strange.

The reason is that you need a subcommand. We should:

a) Search subcommand: to complete on the possible commands
b) Allow for a default subcommand (pick 'help') so if you just type 'vcs' it returns the help.
