Find linked to this bug the Firefox 3.5 "whatsnew" page to be localized in all
languages we ship for the release.

The file to translate is linked in the URL field of this bug (for new
localizers not familiar with Bugzilla yet, this field is up in the page below
the 'QA contact' field)

Localizers with SVN access can directly commit their translation to their
repository and indicate in the bug comments the revision number of their
commit.

If you do not have SVN access and want one, please contact me by email
(pascal_AT_mozilla.com) and I will open a bug for you.

You can of course also just attach your translation to this bug, in that case
don't forget to save it as UTF8 and attach it as "plain text (text/plain)".

There is a paragraph linking to support.mozilla.org, if this is not a relevant option for your locale and you think that linking to a community support site for your locale is a better help for end-users, then follow the instructions here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=491071#c7

(If the situation changes in the future and support.mozilla.org becomes a better alternative for your language, then we can change the link in a future 3.5.x release. Here are the instruction:)

Thanks

Done for Italian on SVN, rev 25267.

IMO the title "You’re now running Firefox <?=$_version?>." shouldn't end with a period: the final result it's something like "You’re now running Firefox 3.6."

Note to localizers:

Due to a last minute change to the page, I added a parameter to this page, NO ACTION IS REQUIRED FROM YOU IN THIS BUG, all of the files that you committed to SVN or attached to this bug are already updated. If you need to update your translation, get the latest version of your file on our SVN repository.

The reference file in the URL field of this bug is updated to the correct revision with the latest changes, this is for the localizers that haven't worked on this page yet.

This last minute change involves a new string added to your main.lang file that we will deal with in a separate bug.

Thanks for your attention :)

How will the "latest-version" div look like? For Finnish, a direct translation would require a case ending for Firefox 3.5, so the div contents would be something like "Tervetuloa [image]iin" which can look quite odd. At the moment, I'd go with "Tervetuloa! [image]" (where "Tervetuloa" means "Welcome") but that can be inappropriate depending on whether the image is inline or a block (since Welcome etc. is in a span, I'd say it's inline).

If the non-image part will be displayed e.g. above the image, "Tervetuloa!" will be OK, otherwise I'd say Finnish needs a custom image with the case ending.
Sorry, actually a nicer way to say the same thing would be "Tervetuloa käyttämään [Firefox 3.5]:ä". (Nonetheless, if the version number were included, it would have been "Tervetuloa [Firefox 3.5]:een". And of course the suffix changes depending on what the version number is. Aren't inflective languages nice :)
Jussi, you can commit via svn your translation and test it on the staging server:

btw, welcome back ;)

FWIW, viewing 3.5/whatsnew page using 3.5rc2 build2 en-US on ubuntu jaunty, the tops of some chars in the pc-page-x list are cut off....probably needs a little css line-height adjustment. (3.5b99/whatsnew had same issue)

I don't think that you are in the right bug, this is a localization bug.

If I haven't given the newest revision for this page for Danish (da), please update to the latest revision (seems to be r28115 right now). The video seems to be broken (404) on this page, but I guess this is something you will fix.
hansen, thanks for the update, I will indeed fix the video as I did for others :)

removing blocking 3.5, only Mongolian is missing which does not block the release.
Flags: blocking-firefox3.5+
Found some bad copy/pasting.
Pascal, can you please put this one on?
Attachment #375956 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Is this still underway? Can we lower the severity from blocker, if so?
This is still underway for one locale, Mongolian, for which we are trying to find a new team to replace the old one. We can definitely remove the blocker flag given that we since decided to keep Mongolian as a beta locale.
Severity: blocker → major
Resolved! Now Firefox 4 is actual.
true and we lost Mongolian a while ago unfortunately
