In the alpha cand (build from may 13), I tried search for addons. The query i used was just "a". It took 27 seconds for the results to come back. We need to do better than this.

I am using a htc touch pro connected via WiFi.
Part of the issue here is that I left the timeout turned on for the search textbox. So it will search as you type, if you pause while entering. We could remove this and wait until the user explicitly asks to search.

That is crazy! What kind of sucky networking is going on here? Given that we have bugs filed for downloads taking longer with mozilla over IE and bugs for the Add-on Manager being unresponsive while downloading the recommended add-on list and bugs about huge pageload times, I'd say we have some kind of network issue on Window Mobile.
well, it could be some well-known skanky wifi issues we have in MV (we are next to an apartment complex and the wifi noise is very high).

at home it is ~6 seconds. ooc, is this a ssl connection? maybe that has a different perf characteristic.
this works fine on maemo
