Firefox's handler (in tabbrowser.xml) includes a workaround for bug 265790 that was landed in bug 263844. It's no longer necessary now that bug 265790 was fixed otherwise, AFAICT (tested with the testcase in bug 265790). I'll file a Firefox bug on removing it.
