Yesterday when the colo was down, both AMO and mozilla.com did not show the outages page, whereas less important sites (bugzilla and MDC, for example) did. How can we fix this for the future?

This is going to be really hard to resolve. While the Cisco ACE L4 load balancer was up, all the ZXTM nodes were down. Since it's all SSL, it's impossible for the ACE to send a redirect. Surprisingly, the Netscaler scores points here. We thought of a couple ideas lastnight, including changing DNS but that was hampered by everything being offline :|

I don't know enough about our newfangled technology to suggest any alternatives, so I'll close this if you say there's no way for us to show the outage page.
