Looks fantastic in Firefox, ok in Webkit, meh in IE.  Justin says he's ok with that.  So am I.

I'd prefer to use something that works in more than just FF & Safari.

This looks like a viable solution:

Replace the input box with the red and green divs.

I can work on this with you if you want.
