Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; sv-SE; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier:

Go -> Next -> Unread Message (N) advancing to next folder with unread messages is broken when reading messages in a tab or window.

This seem to be the case since Thunderbird 3 beta 3 and every shredder version there after.

Go -> Next -> Unread Message (N) when no more unread messages shows a dialog

Confirm: Advance to next unread message in nnnnn? Yes/no

When reading in a new tab, the tab closes. When reading in a separate window nothing happens

But when reading messages in the Message Pane (N) works as expected.

Reproducible: Always

Expected Results:
Next unread message from the next folder with unread messages should be shown in the tab or window.

Can you check the Error console ? Do you have extension installed ?

I think you ask me for installed extensions, and the answer is about 15 of them, but I have verified this behavior with all of them disabled.

There are no messages at all related to pressing (N)

Besides the OS I wonder why it works on my Tb and not yours.
WFM too here on

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091011 Lightning/1.0pre Shredder/3.0pre ID:20091011031521

Reporter what version of TB you use?

Could you try to see if it still happens with
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.1/ ?

So last but not least. This could also be a theme issue - do you have the issue in safe-mode ?
RESO INCO due to lack of response to last question. If you feel this change was made in error, please respond to this bug with your reasons why.

Still have the same problem

tested with

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091102 Shredder/3.0pre

and

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6pre) Gecko/20091105 Shredder/3.0pre

both in safe-mode

I've had this problem with all versions I've updated to since beta3.

Maybe I need to a clean out all

I also have this problem with

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091209 Fedora/3.0-3.fc11 Thunderbird/3.0

I have no extensions installed. I have disabled all plugins. I have wiped out my entire .thunderbird directory and created my profile fresh and still have the problem.

I have had the same problem with a recent version under Windows Vista. I will have to post the exact version string later if needed.

Let me know what additional information is needed. Thanks.
I also have this bug on:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091209 Fedora/3.0-4.fc12 Lightning/1.0pre Thunderbird/3.0
I too have this problem, upgrade install of 3.0.1 over existing version, only a few extensions. Doing a "next unread" op (from menu or "next" button customized into toolbar) when on the last message in a folder yields the "move to next message in X folder" prompt, but saying OK produces nothing but a return to the current folder list.
I added another email account using tbird 3.0.1 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100120 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc11 Thunderbird/3.0.1) and this one account works as it should. All the other email accounts still will not work as they should. Since all the other accounts existed prior to using tbird v3 in any form, I suspect this is an issue with upgrading. I confirmed that all options in the config file between the account that behaves correctly and the others are either the same or merely differ in regards to the email account name or storage path. Therefore the problem must be in some other file associated with the email account. I will experiment when I have time to see if I can isolate where the problem data lies.
Ok, it appears that if I remove the local imap mail store for tbird and let tbird rebuild it upon next startup, the next key functions as it should.

Can anyone else confirm that this resolves the problem for them?

Sorry, but this does not work for me.
DUP/same as 545218 ?

My first use of TB was 3.1a1pre (i.e., accounts were created with v3.1).

No IMAP here (TB 3.1.1); problem occurs as described.
I'm having the same problem with TB 3.1.6 (Fedora 14) using two IMAP accounts.

Bug 545218 looks like a duplicate to me too.
I am a little bit annoyed by the fact that this issue still haven't been resolved. Particularly since I consider this functionality to be a core feature when reading News.

However, now when using

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101027 Thunderbird/3.1.6

the error console actually throws an error. Here is the output in error console when hitting N and clicking Yes:

ThunderBrowse: Turn off via click event.

ThunderBrowse: Grabbed: DIV [object XPCNativeWrapper [object HTMLDivElement]]

ThunderBrowse: Stopped: DIV [object XPCNativeWrapper [object HTMLDivElement]]

ThunderBrowse: Turn off via handlelinkclick

ThunderBrowse: Turn off via key event.

ThunderBrowse: Stopped: HTML [object XPCNativeWrapper [object HTMLHtmlElement]]

ThunderBrowse: Turn on via key event. No fire event occured.
