Ok, this is a bit hard to explain, so I'll upload a screenshot as well.

If you select Threaded view of your messages, collapse a thread and select the top message, the thread will be shown in Newspaper style. Now change the window layout from either Classic to Vertical or Wide. Now try changing it back. You can't

After selecting a single message or after expanding the thread you can change the window layout.

Steps to reproduce:
- Enable threaded view
- Collapse a thread
- Select the top message
- Change the view to a different one
- Try changing it back to the previous layout

Expected result:
- The change back is successful

Actual Results:
- The change back fails.

No. But this doesn't seem to be valid anymore. I cannot make TB show in the "Newspaper view" as the OP shows in the screenshot.

When in summary/conversations display, layout changes indeed break it. (Fixed in the MoreLayouts extension).

Thanks for pointing this out. I misunderstood the screen shot, and I understood "The change back fails" to mean you cannot change the layout, which is WFM. (but I don't think that's what the reporter means)

But I do see that the summary is broken - which is resolved by simply picking a different message thread.

Seems to me the cause of this would be the same as these

• Bug 636874 - On layout change, tab shows wrong message than it had before the change
• Bug 718306 - Changing layout breaks with Mail Summaries and/or Conversations
