My Firefox pop-up blocker is working perfectly in Firefox, but something that my virus protection can't find is opening up new pop-up windows using Internet Explorer while I am browsing with Firefox. I am not 100% sure if something has compromised my Firefox program or not, bot my spyware and virus protection has not been ble to find anything wrong. It is not a single URL pop-up either...it seems to be a randomly generated one.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.browse internet with Firefox
2.most visited sites are craigslist, yahoo, mudallica.com, photobucket, youtube
3.it never seems to happen on demand, only randomly
Actual Results:
random pop-ups in separate windows in Internet Explorer windows

Expected Results:
Firefox pop-up blocker to completely block pop-ups and not allow them to migrate to other programs
I seriously doubt that this is related to Firefox, as many spyware products will open IE windows no matter what browser you have. Upgrade to firefox 3.5.3 or later, but also try running combofix and malwarebytes on your computer, see if it finds anything.

Thanks for the advise. I just did the latest Firefox upgrade...wondering if that might be where the problems are coming from? I surf really safe sites and only use Firefox so I kinda figured Firefox must have picked it up along the way?
Even if you go to safe sites, you can still get malware. Sites such as facebook and myspace are breeding grounds :). No, the upgrade would not have given it to you.
