With bug 334697 the progress meter is not much needed. The pie-chart tells enough and having many places to look for progress load is not good.

Also if both tab bar and status bar are hidden there is no progress indication at all.

That's why I think that displaying the pie chart always on the favicon in location bar is the better solution, for the active page. It will be visible all the time without dependency of status bar or tab bar and users will look at the same place every time.

And for the other tabs, if there is any loading, the pie-chart could be displayed on their tab icon as it is now.
