Firefox keeps asking that I update to the latest version of Flash Player. Latest version of Flash Player (10.00.32.18) is already installed

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Update to latest version of Firefox
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Firefox reports it has been updated but that Flash Player needs upgrade to latest version

Expected Results:
Firefox should have detected that latest version of Flash Player (10.00.32.18) IS installed
Can you please post the flashplayer entry from about:plugins (enter as URL in Firefox).

An example from my system:

Shockwave Flash

    File: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll
    Version: 10.0.32.18
    Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Adobe Flash movie swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash movie spl Yes

You get that warning from the Plugin check page that Firefox opens at an upgrade ?
about:plugins reports 2 entries:

Shockwave Flash

    File name: Flash Player.plugin
    Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes
Shockwave Flash

    File name: Flash Player.plugin
    Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes

The Plugin check page reports that I have

Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115

status : vulnerable

and suggests I update
Problem solved by:

removing spurious instance of 9.0 r115 plugin from

~:Library:Internet Plugins

Thanks for your help

The issue is that you had 2 different flash versions on your system.
Firefox picks one of the installed plugins and in your case the old version :-(
Running the flash installer again and again doesn't help because it only reinstalls the new version that is already installed but it doesn't change Firefox decision to use the old version.
I'm glad that you have found the answer yourself because I'm a win32 user and don't know how to remove/uninstall things on OS X.

marking wfm because fixed is only used with a change ion the Mozilla source code.
