It would be nice if alerts (XUL notificationbox) could appear as semi-transparent overlays instead of infobars. Infobars are very distracting in that they cause the browser content area to scroll down which is really annoying, especially if a page is loading and you have started reading it and the page scrolls down to display an alert. An overlay could display the same information without the distraction of the screen scrolling down. Of course having a pref to allow the user to select the alert presentation (overlay or infobar) certainly wouldn't hurt and should please everyone.

The new doorhanger notifications are an acceptable alternative to the annoying infobars.
