The Dock New Mail count shows total unread messages rather than new unread messages (downloaded but unseen).

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
If you have a lot of unread messages then check open MailNew, the dock new mail badge could potentially be in the thousands if you have a lot of old mail that you haven't marked as read.

Expected Results:
In releases previous to 2.0, the mail count showed only recently downloaded unread mail.

There's a patch being worked on for Thunderbird (Bug #518828). I'd like to see it integrated with SeaMonkey.

Hi Cecelia, if the patch I provided gets committed to the repository, it will update both Thunderbird and SeaMonkey. This particular code is shared between the two of them.

Hello, Patrick,

Thanks for letting me know. I asked in the Thunderbird bug but didn't get an answer. I just wanted to make sure that SeaMonkey didn't get left behind and it'd be nice to get it sooner rather than later.

Sorry for the bug spam.

no string changes on 2.0.x, if this is done then it can only land on a non-string-frozen tree (like 2.1).

The pref mail.biff.use_new_count_in_mac_dock introduced in bug 518828 is working as designed in SeaMonkey trunk builds.
We're not going to add UI for it for the time being.
