When a folder is set to View only unread messages, and there is only one unread message in it, when the folder is selected (clicked on), TB should automatically select the message for viewing (when preview pane is enabled). Dunno if it should also open the message if the preview pane isn't enabled - maybe optional?

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
1. Click folder with only one unread message in it.
2. Folder is selected, but user must click on the message to view it in the preview pane.

Expected Results:
1. Click folder with only one unread message in it.
2. Folder is selected, and the single unread message is auto-selected and contents displayed in the preview pane.
Also, it would be nice if there was also an option to open 'oldest' or 'newest' if there was more than one in the view.
Sounds good to me.
This wishe means to include "Auto Select Latest Message" add-on in Thunderbird.

The most important for would be the ability to view the latest unread mail: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/thunderbird/addon/auto-select-latest-message/reviews/307487/
Would message auto-selection run counter to standard/desired accessilbility workflow?

I think it wouldn't counter the workflow. When you select a folder, it's normally to view something. And when it's the only message, why not show it?
