If I click on the new mail notification icon AND a message window is currently open, it will display the message window. I would expect it should display the window containing my Inbox, not the last message read. If there is not a message window open, then it works as expected. If I configure Thunderbird to open new messages in a "tab", it works as expected. I am guessing the notification code assumes I am using the tabbed message interface. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Configure to open messages in new window 2.Open a message so the inbox and a message are in different windows 3.Wait for a new message to arrive 4.When the new mail notification icon is displayed in the tray, click on it Actual Results: The window containing the message is displayed, not with window with the Inbox Expected Results: The window containing the Inbox should be displayed

mshillinger, do you still see this problem. I am seeing same behavior for both settings - open in new window and open in new tab - only the 3pane window is opened with message in preview. No extra tab or window is opened Same as bug 937909?

Can verify that this happens always. It's also an issue for me because I open ".eml" files, which always open in a new window. These windows then "block" the new email notification.
