This is a hook to add new values to DB_COLUMNS for a particular class.

Here we go. Unlike with the VALIDATORS hook, you can't modify existing columns. If somebody comes up with an important use case in the future for modifying columns, then we can change the hook, but it seemed safer for now to simply only allow adding new columns.

Granting myself review as Extensions module owner. This does touch a few other places, but the changes are very straightforward.
