Details

On cruncher, I have this in my .htaccess file to enable compression for .js files:

AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE application/x-javascript

AllowOverride probably isn't letting me set this on build.mozilla.org
Done. bmo will now compress js stuff over http and https.
