Sphinx killed zamboni...

This sounds nearly impossible as Sphinx should be very decoupled from zamboni.  When used it fails gently.

Let's spend some time where we debug this, it may require us working on a preview box out of rotation - so we can dive deep and look into logs and whatnot.
