Thunderbird in Lucid does not respect the setting for sending emails when set to "ask me*" when going from offline>online
When checking "Tools>Activity Manager" It does not show up as sending emails.

As I recall this happened with stable Thunderbird-3.0 version as well
Since the activity manager fails to tell me if it is sending them im not sure if it is sending or not.
This is a regressions since it worked fine on Thunderbird-2.0*

The Ubuntu bug is at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/544187
It looks like it doesn't send any emails once you go back on line
I added the Ubuntu bug link to this bug using the "add bug URLs"
Not sure what it does
It doesn't send the email at all. I tested this to make sure today and it isn't sending them
Updated Summary
Summary: Thunderbird-3.0 does not respect at least one setting → Thunderbird-3.0 does not ask or send emails when written in offline mode go back to online
I'm not getting email from this bug, changed settings lets see what happens
Does this happens in when you launch thunderbird in -safe-mode ?

Anytging in Tools -> Error console ?
i dont recall about errors i will try both in a few minutes and let you know
It happens in safe mode as well. Here is the output from the safe-mode session

This reminds me ... why is tbird not producing libxul.so? Plugins like this (senseful or not) don't work because of that. Firefox standalone also has a libxul.so. Should we have a bug on that?
I think it would be helpful to have a bug on that as well since I don't think the 2 are related
Sorry forgot to add these are all POP accounts, there are ~6 accounts and all of them do it
This works fine for me on both the Mac versions of 3.0 and 3.1 nightlies.

There's a known bug for automatically going back online (Linux doesn't really support automatically anyway, and its off by default) but that shouldn't be affecting you.

I would suggest checking the error console whilst you're coming back online to see if anything gets added.

Re: libxul.so - you won't get that until we switch over to linking xulrunner style - i.e. with libxul.so. We've already got bugs on that work, so there's no need to file another.
Mark no I don't get any warning/errors or anything else.

I'm not real sure what you mean by automatically going back online. I click the icon to go from online -> offline than i do what I need to do than I click on the same icon to go back online. At this time it should ask me if I want to send unsent mail(i have it set to ask me) it doesn't do that and it doesn't send the email at all. They also don't land in drafts. but this was working in Thunderbird-2 and even early Thunderbird 3. i have to click the icons so is that what you mean by automatically
I seem to have spoken too soon here is what i get.

pop.gmail.com : potentially vulnerable to CVE-2009-3555 << bunch of these
Those errors probably aren't anything to do with this. Also ignore my comments about the automatic online that's just confusing you.

When you send messages in offline mode, do you see them in the outbox?

When you go back online, can you then right-click and select "Send Unsent Messages" and it sends them fine?
They dont have anything to do with it. I was just thinking that and came here to compare.

>When you send messages in offline mode, do you see them in the outbox?
No I dont have an outbox folder (never did) but its not in Drafts or Sent

Right click where? Seeing as once i hit "send later" it doesnt save a copy anywhere of it i dont think it would matter where i right click

Have you looked under Local Folders? If you've not got that folder, then I'm not sure where it is going - iirc the outbox can't be moved/altered by any prefs.

Sorry yes I forgot about Local Folders they are all listed there. ok trying to send them now.

Yes it is sending them all.
This has once again prompted me to send unsent emails and sent them. I would like to leave this open for a few more days maybe until mid-late week to see if the bug becomes reproducible again The version I'm using is below

gnomefreak@Development:~$ policy thunderbird
thunderbird:
  Installed: 3.0.5~hg20100325r4794+nobinonly-0ubuntu1~umd1
  Candidate: 3.0.5~hg20100325r4794+nobinonly-0ubuntu1~umd1
Closing since it has not happened again. I have to assume one of the updates released that week fixed it.
