As the severity says, this is an anhancement request and being that NS6 and
Moz1.0 are comeing up quickly it should be put on the back-burner for a while...
I just wanted to submit it while I was thinking about it....

I think it would be a nice feature to be able to collapse frames. This could be
a border click (such as it is in My Sidebar) and/or a right-click option. This
would essentially give the fame a width/height=0 (or maybe 10 so there's
something to click to un-collapse it :). This would be a huge benifit to ppl
with lower resolutions (640 X 480 or 800 X 600) or ppl that don't browse
maximized (almost everyone who doesn't use Win32).

A little more info... bug 25592 is very similar to what I would like to see this
provide... the major difference is that 25592 simply opens the frame _top
whereas this would allow the frames to be re-shown (or portion of the discussion
in 25592 was about the word hide having the connotation that it could be un-hid,
which was beyond the scope of that bug).

Let's say you have a page with two frames of equal size. When you click the frame
border, which one disappears?

Or let's say you hide a frame using its context menu. Since there's no frame to
have a context menu any more, how do you get the frame back?

I think this would be better handled by an option (like iCab has) to always allow
frames to be resizeable. That way you can just shrink the frames that don't
interest you down as small as you like, but you can always get them back if you
want.
Those are good points, Matthew, and I agree... Resizable would be the way to
go. The only thing I'd add would be a way (be it a right-click menu option or
similar) to restore the frame to it's original size. I know you could just
resize it to the approx. size it was b4, but being a perfectionist and all... :)
I don't quite understand your point Matthew. How are the equally-large frames
supposed to be arranged?
If you have two such frames with a border, you could resize them individually,
right? So if the border is visible only when the mouse comes to it, it would be
the same. I like the Sidebar-like collapsable idea.
Sorry. I didn't realize that both parts of the window were frames. So I'd vote
for the menu item (as in bug 25592), except that it hides the frame and doesn't
expand it, and a fine thread along the window to restore the frame when desired.

(ah, my preferences changed - was jido)

Hm, two years later and still no action. I better redirect people from QPM to
this bug directly so they can read about it here!
