To reproduce In Firefox: Tools > Weave Sync Tab Paste the long secret phrase (52 chars, all ASCII alphabetical, no numbers or special chars) into the "Enter Secret Phrase" entry box. (A red "Wrong Secret Phrase" appears beneath the text box. Click on the link "Change Secret Phrase" Paste the same phrase into to textbox "New Secret Phrase" (A red X icon appears stating "The secrest phrase cannot be the same as your current phrase"). Obviously, both can't be true. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Steps to reproduce are in the details section above. Actual Results: Work around is to change to a temporary second phrase, then change back to the desired phrase. Expected Results: I believe that the software is an illegal state. Perhaps when I entered the phrase the first time it was too long, but not checked at entry. Maybe when I attempt to verify, the truncation occurs before the test, and hence does not authenticate. However, when the phrase is check when I attempt to change, the full phrase might be being checked. I can't speculate further without knowing how the software works.

What happens if you type in a different secret phrase initially then paste in the one you want when resetting it?
I have already reset my phrase with the workaround that I described. So, if I try to perform it again, it actually will be the current phrase.

Does this still exist in current builds? I cannot repro. However, I am not using a very long sync key

This still exists I believe, akin to bug 601456. Take the following story: * You want to change the Sync Key on computer A to K but you type in M. * Now you go to computer B and try to sync. You'll be presented with the "Wrong Sync Key" error message. You enter K for the Sync Key but still can't connect. * You want K to be your Sync Key so you go to the "My Sync Key" dialog. It already shows K for your Sync Key (even though it's false) and won't let you change it immediately to K. Workaround: Enter N for the Sync Key, get the login failure, now change the Sync Key to K.

We no longer support custom Sync Keys, resolving this as invalid.
