User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; de; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; de; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Firefox crashes when displaying a pdf using the acrobat plugin. - when displaying the pdf in a frame ("show pdf in browser" activated in reader or acrobat or both) - when displayi8ng the pdf in a separate window ("show pdf in browser" deactivated) plugin version: 9.3.2.163 Workaround: deactivate the plugin Further Notes: - The pdf is displayed before Firefox crashes - the problem is not present on all systems: o 3 systems at home (2 running Win7, one running XP) don't have this problem o 2 systems at work (1 running XP, one running Win7) show this problem o our IT department states that nearly all computers in the company have this problem - if the problem exists, it is the same with internet explorer (verion 8, only the pdf tab/window crashes) and google chrome (only the pdf tab/window crashes) - Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. activate acrobat plugin 2. go to a website with pdfs (e.g. sciencedirect.com, espacenet.com) 3. click a link to a pdf -> wait for display and crash.. Actual Results: see above Expected Results: show pdf in frame or separated window and _not_ crash bp-34607249-6ee3-4ab5-a757-dab582100602 02.06.2010 11:40 see also communication in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=536974 What makes this bug so annoying is the combination of - the pdf being displayed before the crash - the workaround seriously complicating work on pages that rely heavily on "in-line" pdf display (like espacenet.com)

Does it happen with the latest version of Firefox? It might be related to bug 714100.

What version are you using? Is this still happening when updating to the newest Acrobat Reader versions? Can you provide current crash report ids for this? (bp-xxxxx from about:crashes)

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
