Thunderbird has started showing the "Add Security Exception" window and I'm not able to stop it, even if I use the "Cancel" button.

(Actually, I've tried it 30times - probably - and the window disappeared).

It's really annoying as one is not able to do whatever else as that window is modal ...

Steps to Reproduce:
Not able to reproduce it.
Actual Results:  
The application is unusable.

Expected Results:  
When I use the "Cancel" button I'll be able at least to close Thunderbird.

It's happened on my imap e-mail account.

I've tried it several times (see the picture attached), then I've begun trying to "Cancel" it.

This error is not a duplicate of 528922. Or doesn't look like it is.

Here is my addition:

Today the certificate expired on my mail server. TB showed this window: Add Security Exception.
My TB download mails with 1 minute period.

This mixture of settings caused that this window (after pushing the Cancel button) pops up again and again. 

I put some heavy on my ESC button, went for coffee...
When I was back, the constantly popping window disappeared. But then again, after a minute, it popped again. 
It will be helpful if TB won't show EVERY uncertified download attempt's window after closing the one that's opened.

If I wait for 5 minutes, and I add an exception, the windows pop 4 times, then popping stops.

This is TB 3.1.7 on a WinXP 32bit OS.

I've been having the same problem since I switched to TB 3. I simply deleted the existing exception in the Servers certificates. Popup seems to have stopped, at least for the last few times I restarted TB.

Never mind, the confirmation dialog just reappeared today. At least I had a day without this popup. Perhaps the problem is that my imap mail server name is an alias to some internal machine: e.g. mail.mydomain.com -> machine.servers.intranet.mydomain.com... I'll try changing the server name to the actual machine name and see if this comes back.

Ok. This seems to have fixed the problem for me for now. At least I haven't seen any popup since yesterday...
