In the modern skin: If you go into the Font Preferences and make the text size 72. Then close and reopen preferences, the header in preferences is really large. The modern theme is using the text size specified in preferences for the pref header. It should be setting its own value.
Sending to Joe to investigate. This may need to move to a different owner, but please reproduce this bug first.

This in prefpane.css should fix it. #smallheader > .box-smallheader-box > .box-smallheader-left { font-size: 12px; }

Joe, I still see this issue occurs in windows, mac, and linux (2001-01-12-06-Mtrunk).
