Opening certain websites causes the Java Console to pop up and this Java Console window will not close when I click on the red close window button i.e it just shrinks the window to the dock like using the the yellow shrink to dock button; in addition the close window option under the file drop down menu is grayed out for the Java console.

, i.e. http://www.molecular-cancer.com/content/8/1/112 opened in a new tab caused the Java Console to pop up reading the following

Does this still occur with 3.6.13 and after updating Java to the latest version?

How about with a clean profile?

Still occurs with Firefox 3.6.13 and with a newly created Firefox profile. However, I created a new Mac OS 10.4 user profile and it did not occur (using 3.6.13).
Reporter, please can you confirm whether this issue still occurs using Firefox 4.0.1 (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/new/) or higher, in Firefox safe mode (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode) and/or with a clean profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile). Ideally, also check using the latest nightly: http://nightly.mozilla.org/

If this issue no longer occurs, please close as "Resolved Worksforme".

It it in fact still occurs, please provide as much extra information as possible, including what versions tried, whether safe mode/new profile tested etc. Thanks! :-)

I upgraded my OS from 10.4 Tiger to OS 10.6 Snow Leopard and this resolved the problem for me with my archived profile immediately running with Firefox 3.6.17(?). So I can't comment on FireFox 4.0 with the OS 10.4.
