it's slightly confusing, not very harmful.

keep in mind that sometimes people are stupid and try to cherry pick, when that happens, typically the wrong things happen.

i have a team which is more likely to cherry pick than most which means w9ae're more likely to get tripped up by such things than the rest of the world. (and no, they don't ask me for advice before doing things...)

I've changed my mind. I'm now in the business of having a tool which does automatic analysis.

Such junk is harmful to such a tool. If you need things for historical access, there are older MXR roots and there's hg tags/revisions. I'd rather you actually retire (hg rm) the files which aren't being used/delivered/etc.
