Upgrade to Thunderbird 3.1 on Windows XP machines causes all mail remote images not to load. All suggested fixes fail on windows XP. They work on Windows 7.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade a windows XP machine from version 2 to version 3.1
2. look at mail with remote images
3. apply fix at http://www.groovypost.com/howto/geek-stuff/allow-thunderbird-3-to-download-and-display-images-automatically/ and see that IT DOES NOT WORK
Actual Results:
remote images do not load

Expected Results:
remote images should load
waht do you mean do not load ?

The remote images do not appear in the email displayed to the user. They do not get loaded.
Is this true for all emails ?

Anything in Tools -> Error console when this happens ?

Did you try to start Thunderbird in safe-mode ?
Summary: on windows XP machines the 3.1 upgrade does not load remote images even with 'fix' → with mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image set to false image aren't displayed.
It happened for all emails. I did not know about safe mode or error console.
I have rolled back to Thunderbird 2 on all four of my Windows machines. I will not upgrade to Thunderbird 3. I don't like it.
