total crash when clicking on any message header in mail reader window

when I start Tbird and try to view any new or old message the entire program crashes/closes.  no error message.
restarts with no issues.
this is my first time using a pre release.
Ubuntu 10.04, 64 bit

Steps to Reproduce:
1.start program
2.click on message to view

Actual Results:  
program closed/crashed
restarts quickly with no apparent issues
unable to view messages

Expected Results:  
open mail

Yes, it does crash in Safe Mode (thanks for the sudo link)
I can send mail with no issues
I can reply if I select the message without the preview pane open
If I select and try to view in a separate tab or window it crashes

the only problem I have is viewing (other than as a reply or forward in line mode)
not having much luck with that...

You can run thunderbird with the command 'thunderbird -g' to start in gdb.

That should leave you at a gdb console.  Also, you'll need to install thunderbird-dbg
I reran the roll back using Ubuntu Tweak linked in comment #4, all is working well.

Maybe a 32/64 bit library missmatch
