Please implement the following Rel Notes at this location: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/mobile/4.0b1/releasenotes/index.html Alex, the copy changes can be found on this gdoc: https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1RnN5NoSu6Q6YyJhw3takO1I6WEJsx-0WO-hSjDvuwzM&hl=en# (It's a private document, so let me know if I need to add anyone) These changes take from 2.0a1 rel notes. Can I have access to the Google doc ? (rik24d@gmail.com please)
Comment 2•14 years ago

The document contains the following : "See a list of untested devices that meet our System Requirements." But there is no such list in the document.

The FAQ for "What are Firefox Add-ons and how can I get them on my mobile device?" is not clear.

Comment 4•14 years ago

That was strange -- they paragraph got totally jumbled. Revised version: "Add-ons let you customize your Firefox by adding are small pieces of software that let you add or change the look or functionality of Firefox. Install add-ons directly to your Firefox by swiping to the left and tapping on the browser tools "gear" button on the bottom right-hand side of your screen, then choosing the add-ons “puzzle piece” button to discover and install the add-ons that are most useful to you."

(In reply to comment #2) Sorry, we added that recently and I have add this link to the gdoc: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements

(In reply to comment #4) For the first sentence, I've removed "are", so it's : "Add-ons let you customize your Firefox by adding small pieces of software that let you add or change the look or functionality of Firefox."

FAQ "What browser engine does Firefox use?" "The mobile version of Firefox uses Gecko version 1.9.3" Isn't it 2.0 ?

Hey - Sorry about that. The latest version states: "2.0b7pre"

The only thing left (if I haven't made mistakes) is to change the links to download.

Make header: Firefox 4 Beta 1 for Android and Maemo Release Notes Subhead: Change first sentence from "Get up and go and take your Firefox anywhere. Firefox beta for Android and Nokia N900 is built on the same technology platform as Firefox 4 for desktop computers, but optimized for browsing on a mobile device." TO "Take your Firefox anywhere. Firefox 4 Beta 1 for Android and Maemo is built on the same technology platform as Firefox 4 for desktop computers, just optimized for browsing on a mobile device."

-Change first expandable header from "What's News in Firefox 4 beta 1 for Android and Nokia N900" to "What's new if Firefox 4 Beta 1 for Android and Maemo" Under the same section: -Change the first disclaimer paragraph to: "Fennec is the codename of Mozilla’s mobile project, however, the official product name is Firefox. For pre-beta releases of Firefox, we refer to it by the project's name, Fennec." (deleted last sentence). -Change alpah to "beta" in the second paragraph: "Shipping with many of your favorite Firefox desktop features like Firefox Sync, Add-ons and the Awesome Bar, this beta release brings Firefox to the Android platform, the fastest growing smartphone platform in the world." -Remove "extremely" in third paragraph in this section. Change "an" to "a" right in front of it.

Under Known issues: -do not bullet "User Interface" as it's calling out a new section of bullets. -see above. same with "Keyboard"and "Known Bugs"

Under System Requirements: -Delete "and N810 mobile devices." in the first sentence

Under FAQ, only one question have Firefox 4 beta 1 "Do I need to setup Firefox Sync to use Firefox 4 beta 1 on my phone?" Remove "1" so they all just refer to the beta builds.

Under Developer Questions: -Just replace "TraceMonkey" to "JeagerMonkey" in the question about the JavaScript engine: "What JavaScript engine does Firefox use? Firefox includes the new “JaegerMonkey” JavaScript engine, an advanced JIT (“just in time”) compiler using tracing technology. The JaegerMonkey engine makes Web applications faster by compiling code as you execute it, allowing many types of CPU-intensive applications to run at near-native speed. "

Also, in the top subhead, there is a link missing for "provide suggestions" which should point people to: http://firefoxformobile.uservoice.com/forums/70211-firefox-for-mobile-ideas

Looks great. JaegerMonkey link needs to point here (http://hacks.mozilla.org/category/jagermonkey/) Under Developer Questions, but that's all.

Just a couple of nits: 1) Please delete: "For pre-beta releases of Firefox, we refer to it by the project's name, Fennec" (the 2nd sentence of the first paragraph under What's New section) 2)Add a 1 in the following sentence under What's New section "More personalized than ever before, Firefox 4 beta 1 is packed with your favorite features and great improvements. Other highlights include:" After those, looks great.

The follow bugs in the "Known Issues" section are fixed in beta 1 and should be removed: > Firefox 4 beta 1 might hang or crash at startup if there is very little > internal storage available, or for other unknown reasons (bug 589906) > Some keyboards do not show updated text as you type in the address bar (bug > 580388). This affects the standard Android keyboard in landscape orientation, > and some alternate input methods. and this bug is not exactly fixed, but we disabled the code that caused it: > 599810, 600304, 600260 - Users may experience hangs or crashes while > loading pages on any Galaxy S line phone should be changed to something like this: > Firefox's JIT compiler is disabled on Samsung Galaxy S phones because of > stability problems. JavaScript performance in Firefox 4 beta 1 will be > slower on Galaxy S phones than on other devices (bug 601222).
