After Thunderbird moved on 22 Sep. to libxul, I've seen it the first time, that TB takes long to startup. On 23. Sep. it was gone and fast again. But than I've seen this frequently again. First I thought this is me, but than I've read similar reports from other users in Mozillazine. See: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2007497&start=30 http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=10020095#p10020095 Since I've downgraded from the broken 15 Okt. build to a 13. Okt. build its now very extrem. TB now takes 5-10 seconds to start, after I click the dock icon.

can't we get anyone in mz to instrument thunderbird startup? http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2031485 If we had Bug 462862 - Implement start up performance tests for Thunderbird - we could catch these things at build time you must have a very lean/fast system - I never get 5-10 sec startup :(
(In reply to comment #1) > you must have a very lean/fast system - I never get 5-10 sec startup :( The 5-10 seconds was on my iMac8,1. But on my new MacBook its slower than it is on my iMac. But it depends on which build you use, some builds are fast and some builds are slow. At the moment I use a fast older build.

Nomis, see bug 533441, bug 588952
I don't see this anymore since a long time now.
