User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.11) Gecko/20101012 Firefox/3.6.11 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)

If I attempt to install any version of Firefox after 3.6.3, when it runs for the first time the Add-on compatibility check dialog hangs. If I click cancel, I run into the problem observed in bug 588864. Looking at the process explorer details shows that Firefox is constantly connecting and reconnecting to 135.245.10.25:80.

This seems to be our company gateway (usil100014-proxy-vip-02.gw.alcatel-lucent.com) which is not hosting any type of web page to connect to.

This seems to happen on new install or upgrade with or without any add-ons installed.

This problem seems to affect all users on my campus and may be specific to us.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install any version of Firefox 3.6.4 and newer
2. Launch Firefox
3.
Actual Results:
Add on compatibility dialog hangs

Expected Results:
Completed.
Recovery is to reinstall 3.6.3
Component: Installer → Add-ons Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
QA Contact: installer → add-ons.manager
Version: unspecified → 1.9.2 Branch
Is that issue visible in Firefox 4?
If you can reproduce the issue it would be great if you could give us a HTTP log while that check is performed.

I cannot reproduce this bug using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:9.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0 and Windows 7.
