We want a large schedule grid accessible during the festival. This should be linked prominently on the site.

Mark on Bug 606328: > Note: beyond the small urgent changes in this bug, we need a nice looking > schedule on the site, plus a big schedule button on the front page and program > page. > >I'm assuming Ned and Nathan are driving this. If they aren't, please let me >know so we can discuss. I have that big button in mind - seems we can replace the banner (or part of it) during the festival - how does that sound? As for, the look an functionality of the schedule page; though I am aware of this, it is not something I have a design for yet.

Good re: big button. And can probably kill the register button or make it less prominent a day or two before festival. In terms of design, there is both a visual and editing challenge. Visual is just make it look good. Editing is let us change it all the time. Two most likely editing methods are: 1. Somehow pull in the table from the wiki in real time / on a schedule. or 2. Build it around a google spreadsheet that's embedded in the page. Need your advice re: what's workable and will look good. Could be there is another option.

I think the google spreadsheet would be the better option - pretty sure I would be able to read the data out of it rather then having to embed it directly (ie: more controlled design on our end)

Can you try it based on that, mock that up. I can dump the wiki data into whatever spreadsheet you set up.

Update from Mark via email: " I'm now convinced that we should stick w/ wiki for the schedule Nathan: Can you help find a volunteer who can make the wiki schedule look better, and probably garden it throughout? Ned: Can we just pull the HTML table from the wiki once cleaned, include on drumbeat.org when you launch, and also include a high profile link at top saying 'MOST UP TO DATE SCHEDULE IS HERE ON THE WIKI'? "

The schedule is now live: https://www.drumbeat.org/festival/schedule I think it might need a bit of introductory text beyond "See also: Program Activities Wiki and Festival Space Map" This also need translating: Toni and Guilermo- I just checked this into your svn (have fun)

I would like to update the schedule copy on the Program page to point to the schedule: something along the lines of: " SCHEDULE <link>Check schedule</link> for details on exactly what's going to happen. You can also <link>read the activities page</link> on the wiki for more detailed information. " does that work for you?

^^^ old copy was: SCHEDULE Want to know exactly what's going to happen? You can see the draft schedule here on the Festival wiki. We're still evolving the details — but the general themes and style of sessions will give you a feel for what's going to happen. You can also read the activities page on the wiki for more detailed information.

I just updated the big green "Register" button to point to the schedule (and say schedule). I also hid the Registration tab. Toni and Guillermo: please translate the updated register.php in your en folder of your svn.

@ Ned: * See Bug 609271 - Kill "web page" version of Festival Schedule -- use wiki version instead * as per Mark's comment 6: "I'm now convinced that we should stick w/ wiki for the schedule" * Please re-direct big green "schedule" button link accordingly
