Details

The check would be against the directory that contains the update mar. This way, if the user can't update it doesn't attempt to update. This can happen if a second user with rights has downloaded / staged an update and the user without rights launches Firefox, etc.

I think this was filed during the Firefox 4 release cycle and is no longer relevant with UAC and the maintenance service code.
