"Release Notes" feature doesn't look like something often used, except maybe just after installing/updating a new version. Moving it out of 'Help' menu should be fine.

Here is a question Ratty, why does Release Notes go to http://www.seamonkey-project.org/dev/get-involved instead of well.. Release Notes? Perhaps we should re-purpose this bug to change the link that Release Notes menu item points to.

Good question. Lets ask Callek. (build-config?)

goReleaseNotes() -> app.releaseNotesURL -> http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey%VERSION%/ -> http://www.seamonkey-project.org/dev/get-involved

Ok, but why when a user who well isn't me for instance wants to see the release notes they will be very confused when they end up at the get involved page. I get that the get involved page is very important but either change the menu item's name or fix the website so that it displays the release notes and add a menu item for get involved. I am sure it is not intentional at all but it seems a little devious on the part of the developers to keep it as it is. If release notes isn't going to show release notes then rename it. Else, make the website not redirect and properly show the release notes and add a Get Involved menu item. Confused end users will be thankful!

(In reply to comment #6) > Ok, but why when a user who well isn't me for instance wants to see the release > notes they will be very confused when they end up at the get involved page. They won't, because a user who well isn't you won't be using pre-releases. For (shipped) releases, the releases/seamonkey%VERSION% page actually exists so no redirect to dev/get-involved happens.

This makes sense now! However, I as I am sure I am the only user who IS indeed me, I know a lot of people stay on top of pre-releases. Anyway no sense arguing about this issue. About the original reason this bug was created. Comment 0 thinks it should be removed from the help menu. Comment 1 "We are not firefox" Which he makes a good point, that is if I understand Ratty's meaning behind it. If the Seamonkey Counsel acted more like firefox devs then we wouldn't have half the stuff we have because obviously some of the folks at mozilla-central don't consider the ties we have with the legacy interface that important. In any case, I am not really in favor of arbitrarily removing menu items without more of a reason then what Comment 0 gave. This kind of stuff makes me upset without end.

Ranting aside. Recommend -WONTFIX- unless someone is in favor of removing the menu item, which i doubt.

(In reply to comment #8) > In any case, I am not really in favor of arbitrarily removing menu items > without more of a reason then what Comment 0 gave. I think it would make sense to remove it if it's likely that you never use it (or only use it once). Questions to ask: 1) Would you add it to the help menu if it wasn't there now? 2) Do other apps have links to the release notes in the help menu?

I don't really care whether we have/keep it or not personally, but FWIW a link to the relnotes is already on Help > About SeaMonkey (about:) so the summary is bogus (no need to move, removing suffices).
