User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu/10.10 Chromium/9.0.597.94 Chrome/9.0.597.94 Safari/534.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101208 Thunderbird/3.1.7 I am using 4 different mail accounts. One of them is not active anymore, i.e. my user no longer exists on that server (am keeping the account for the old messages). Even though all the automatic checking (at startup, every x minutes) is disabled, I get presented regularly with an "Add security exception" message for this account. Regularly means about 2 mins after startup and then in irregular intervals afterwards. So TB seems to contact that server even though I have switched off anything automatic. That's a but for itself I should think. In addition, "Confirm security exception" has no effect - the error message re-appears as described above. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create IMAP account and set server to ns0.ovh.net, Port 993, SSL/TLS. 2. User credentials do not matter. 3. Shut down and start Thunderbird. Wait for a short time. Actual Results: "Add security exception" dialogue is displayed for ns0.ovh.net. Expected Results: Nothing. This has happened with all versions of TB (both 2.x and 3.x).

Is autosync enabled for this account ?

If by "autosync" you mean selecting folders for offline use, the answer is "no". It's also set not to delete any messages automatically. It does have a setting switched on "sync all messages regardless of age" but I think this should have no effect since "Message syncronizing" is switched off / unticked.

Yeah I meant mail.server.default.autosync_offline_stores set to true.

Sorry for the late reply, I do appreciate your help. Yes, mail.server.default.autosync_offline_stores IS set to true. I cannot find any "autosync" setting that is account specific. Happy to look it up, but searching in the config editer for either "autosync" or "SERVERNAME" does not get any promising results.
