Works for me in the latest build. Can you reproduce in Safe Mode (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe Mode)?

In safe mode, if I hide the menu bar, the same behavior is reproducible. Another easy way to reproduce it is, once the menu bar has been hidden and F10 pressed, you can just click on the menu bar on an area that's not activable (ie, not on a menu), and it just goes away.

This is another issue which should be filed separately. Please keep this bug for the not closing Firefox button menu and file a new one for the issue mentioned in comment 2. I have tried with the latest Minefield build on Linux and for me the Firefox button always closes when I press F10. Can you please test in a fresh profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles

I think you misunderstand what I was saying in the original report, the issue in comment 2 is the bug I'm reporting. 1. hide menu bar (by unchecking view->toolbars->menu bar).. this will show the "single-button menu" instead 2. press F10 3. the menu bar appears, but the "single button menu" is still therre 4. if you try to use either the "single buton menu" or the menu bar, the menu bar disappears again

Oliver, as what you have stated in comment 0 is completely different from comment 2. That also applies to the summary of this bug. Updating summary and confirming issue also with a Windows build.

It's more general than your summary (so I updated it).. but doing any menu interaction will hide it. Maybe I misunderstand what F10 is supposed to do? But having both the menu button and the menu bar seems strange (as they are the same thing organised differently). Or is F10 just supposed to show the menu bar temporarily for a single interaction ?
Summary: With menu bar hidden, the temporarily shown menu bar is made invisible when an empty area is clicked → With menu bar hidden, the temporarily shown menu bar is made invisible when any menu interaction occurs
