Reproducible: Always

Sounds like a issue caused by an add-on, can you please try safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
Summary: Bokkmarks toolbar empty after start → Bookmarks toolbar appears empty after start
Tried safe mode, but couldn't work it out ... when restarting in safe mode, the bookmarks toolbar is hidden by default. Due to the nature of the problem, this effectively prohibits testing that.
Just ironed over with the actual release from the ftp site (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0). Problem survived.

(Note that the release would be the same as our RC; our RCs are *actual* release candidates)
