User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110303 Firefox/3.6.15 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: I installed 4.0, it disabled most of my extensions. I went back and they are in a strange limbo - it always they will be installed when I restart firefox, but after the 5th restart they are still all disabled. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. install 4.0 as firefox4 or something differnet and run it, do the updates 2. Go back to firefox 3.6.15 3. Actual Results: I need to trash my entire profile directory and rebuild it to get my extensions back Expected Results: At worst, they might still be disabled, but I coudl reenable them This was on my mac which is now useless.

What do you mean with "do the updates" in step 1? Please give exact clear steps and the add-ons you have had installed. Also have you upgraded to 4.0 or have you done a pave-over installation?
I installed firefox 4. When I started it, it said some of the extensions were not compatible, so it would look for updates, and found some and installed them. It disabled the others. There were about 8 (of 50) that actually worked, so I decided to go back to 3.6.15 When I launched 3.6.15, it didn't say anything about the extensions, but when I went to the add-ons, they were all marked "will be installed when you restart firefox". (In reply to comment #2) > When I launched 3.6.15, it didn't say anything about the extensions, but when I > went to the add-ons, they were all marked "will be installed when you restart > firefox". I assume the migration dialog has been shown when you started Firefox 3.6.15 the first time after you run Firefox 4. For those updated add-ons you have selected 'Install' or 'Cancel'? So after another restart all the add-ons have been removed or only the ones you have upgraded? Please test those steps again and enable 'extensions.logging.enabled' in 'about:config'. After you return check the message pane of the Error Console (under Tools) if any obvious messages are getting reported. Also please attach the extensions.rdf and extensions.log files to this bug after you have downgraded.
The migration dialog showed up the first time I did 3.6.15 after 4.0. I selected "Install". It did not reappear on subsequent restarts. Firefox-4 enabled about 6 of the 50 and left the rest disabled, but didn't uninstall them. They were never removed. In 3.6.15, the addons were neither removed nor installed. They were all marked "will be installed the next time firefox starts" I will try "extension logging" next time I try the update to 4.0

We would appreciate if you could try this sooner than later, even with a copy of your existing Firefox profile. It would help to investigate this issue and come up with a patch if necessary. Until then I will mark this bug as incomplete. Reopen it once you have the requested information for us. Thanks.

I can't get it to happen again and I tried two separate installs, but I also noticed there is/was a repair extensions/themes list in FF3.6. Perhaps as part of the upgrade this should be run (or at least a check if the list is sane). There may have been an extension that was half-installed under 3.6 that caused the problem going back and forth.
