Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0)
Build Identifier: Mz FF4.01b10 and 11 will not uninstall; 4.0.1 loaded but only get crash msg.

Don't punish me leaving me with only IE. The betas were tough enough but two of com-pooters crashed (both W7) with firefox issues. Restored this one but the other is a wall hanging.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Turn on the com-pooter and try to uninstall betas.
2. Afraid to force as just restored this unit.
3. Firefox no likee me.

Actual Results:
There is no step by step...FF won't come up. The betas sit in control panel and thumb their noses at us. FF4.0.1 is loaded and, for awhile, would open for several minutes, then crash, with sincere apologies. Now no several minutes, no sincere apologies and no answers from Mz.

Expected Results:
Duh.

Betas should have evaporated, FF 4.0.1 should have taken us to new heights and I should not have to be searching for a way to restore the Vaio, which won't even let me in, with or without the W7 disk.
Try deleting the Firefox install directories (usually under Program Files) and then install Firefox 4.0.1 from
http://firefox.com/

The install process will cleanup most if not all of the registry settings that pointed to these installs.

After you have done this post in this bug whether you can launch Firefox.
Could not locate install directories. Did find that 4.0.1 had not completed installation and was incorrectly looking for XP sp3 rather than W 7. So FF 4 is up, but the two betas are still untouchable, still thumbing.
Glad Firefox 4 is now working for you.

What indication do you have that the two betas are still installed?
I may have mis-written....the two are still present. Have been unsuccessful in
uninstalling in programs and features.
What exactly happens when you try to uninstall from programs and features? Is anything displayed and if so what is the text displayed?
Powered up, signed on and was installing a windows update in IE (not on Firefox) and this popped up:

This report also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.

One of regular crash reports, EVEN when not in FF. FYI. Perplexing, to me.
As to your question about what happens when uninstall ONLY of the beta FF's, absolutely nothing...and I have uninstalled other pgms before and after failure
to unistall either b10 or b11. To repeat, they just sit there and thumb their noses at me.

Sure has been quiet at this end....FF betas 10 and 11 are still there. I am now getting FF crash notices when FF is not open. Using the response box on the crash notices has been futile, as, like bugzilla, there is a very large black hole out there for help requests and notices to Mozilla. Happy Memorial Day, and, as with mine, thank YOU for YOUR service.

Have you tried simply deleting the files instead of using the uninstall wizard?
No longer anything actionable here.
