Upgraded to Adobe Reader X because of Adobe upgrade nag.
Now, when I open some documents they open in firefox but with the toolbars and menus hidden.

I opened reader x separately so I can get to the edit/preferences and unchecked the setting "allow documents to hide menus toolbars and window controls".
Setting is not effective, at least when loaded inside firefox. Many documents still open without toolbars.

Reader x is not respecting that setting.

I tried to report it to adobe but their position is that software is free so they don't want any bug reports on it. I can't see how you can run a company that way.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on pdf link on website
2.PDF doc opens in firefox with reader x
3.Many documents open with no toolbars visible.

Actual Results:
Toolbars are inexplicably missing when opening PDF doc in firefox after upgrade to reader X. This never happened before the upgrade.

Expected Results:
Toolbars should always appear since that is how I have the setting.

Adobe has poor bug receiving history, but this might only occur with firefox. It never happened before reader x.
but how should we fix a bug in the adobe software ?

I have not determined that the problem is not with Firefox. It could be only a problem with acrobat reader docs that open in Firefox when clicked from a website.

In that case it could be an adobe problem or a Mozilla problem. That needs to be determined.

We do have contact with engineers from adobe- some are assigned to Mozilla. This can be escalated that way.

We'll figure it out.
Here's a test case.

This just opened when clicked from my history in Reader X in the Firefox window.
No toolbars appeared, only the weird hover menu at the bottom.

After this I opened Reader X separately by clicking it's icon in my XP start menu. It opened. I clicked edit/preferences and "allow documents to hide toolbars" etc. is unchecked.

It appears to me the ability for documents to open without toolbars should be disabled. But that ability is not disabled.

For testing I just saved a copy of that same document on my desktop.

I have Reader X open so I clicked open, selected that document that I just saved, it opens in the Reader X window and the expected toolbars are there.

So this is either a Firefox problem or a Reader X/firefox problem.
Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/

If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
