With some of the new locale selector and sidebar discoverability bits, about:firstrun is starting to feel like it is getting in the way of using the browser. Since most of its main functionality (sync, addons, and browsing) are available on about:home, we can just jump there.

Things that aren't currently on about:home which we might want to move? -
FAQ, Privacy Policy, Follow Us, See More Features, and a link to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/
I agree with this and would also like to kill first-run. I
Oops. Adding Madhava.

Agreed re first-run. I don't understand your second comment, but don't believe about:home is the place for FAQ or Privacy Policy. I believe, however, we can do with Firefox: About your browser to highlight features and ways to stay connected. I would like to see about using about:home for referring/sharing Firefox, but I believe we'll be piloting that with an add-on first.

When would this kill take place?
+1; work flow should be reassessed.
Adding Liz to find out if there are any legal implications with our first-run page not including a link to the privacy policy?:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/privacy.html
every web page should have a link to the privacy policy and legal notices. Is there a reason this page should be treated differently?

This webpage is part of our in-product UI. Note we are _removing_ the about:firstrun page which currently has a privacy policy link for the Fennec application. We have a link to the privacy policy in the about:firefox page already. We do not currently have a link to a privacy policy on the start page, about:home. Neither does desktop firefox.
I'm adding Alex. It would be helpful if someone could show me or Alex the different experiences so we can better determine whether the privacy policy link is needed on that page. The fact it isn't currently on about:home doesn't necessarily mean it shouldn't be.

This would show the very first time a user started Fennec, and should never show after unless the user intentionally goes to about:firstrun.

This is the default homepage we ship with Fennec. It currently shows (grossly simplified) every time you start Fennec except the first one. The plan is (again, I'm oversimplifying) to get rid of the the firsturn page and go straight to this page.

A more detailed look at our proposed first-run flow is shown in:

Include about:firefox too, which also has the privacy policy, prominently linked

Sure! This is the about:firefox page. It is accessible at all times by clicking a button in our preferences.
Attached patch WIP (obsolete) — Splinter Review
WIP Patch. Moves animation there as well. Build with the whole firstrun flow is at:

After thinking about this more and checking with Harvey, because this isn't really a Mozilla website page but just a starting point from which the user can go anywhere, it's OK if it doesn't have links to the privacy policy and legal notices. Sorry for taking a while to figure that out.
No worries. Thanks for being thorough.
