I usually have multiple workspaces, with a firefox window on several of them. If I open a link from an external program, like pidgin, I get a new tab in a window that may not be visible, and I get to play an exciting game of "find the new tab" across a dozen workspaces.

I think firefox should open the new tab in a window that's visible or on my current workspace.
