The Research button on plugincheck page points to http://www.mozilla.com/en/plugincheck/null instead of (supposedly) redirecting me to Google with a query.
Pascal suggests I use plugins.mozilla.org for a component, but the problem happens in http://www.mozilla.com/en/plugincheck/
Component: www.mozilla.com → plugins.mozilla.org
QA Contact: www-mozilla-com → plugins-mozilla-org
What's the plugin you're seeing this with?
this one (info copied from about:plugins):

iTunes Application Detector

    File: librhythmbox-itms-detection-plugin.so
    Version:
This plug-in detects the presence of iTunes when opening iTunes Store URLs in a web page with Firefox.
I see this same behavior with the above plugin as well as:

gxine starter plugin

    File: gxineplugin.so
    Version:
will start external gxine media player for embedded media streams
Seems that any plugin that isn't known references the URL in comment #1. Looks like a bug in the plugincheck page on linux only.
Seeing the same thing here with the "Gnome Shell Integration" plugin provided by GNOME 3.
Also, I filed bug 734673 regarding the lack of a component for plugincheck bugs.
