This bug was filed by [e-mail] in bugscape as 2142. We move to
bugzilla now.

Here is the origional description:

Steps to reproduce:
- create a Simple text file typing some JA text (i am using JA OS on Mac);
- open New Mail window and attach this file, send and get it;
//note: JA chars are displayed as ?????????
(note that encoding is 2022-jp)
allen , please reassign this bug to an appropriate person, it is an i18n one.

I think the attached file is in Shift_JIS if it was created under Japanese
Mac or by a JLK under English OS. In that case, you may have to do one of
2 things to see the attachment correctly.

1. Set the Auto-Detect to Japanese and reload the message.
2. If not 1, then set the encoding to Shift_JIS.

If either 1 or 2 works, then let's see if this bug cannot be Worksforme.

Please test again with 6.0 RTM and JA localized MacOS.
BTW, does 6.0 support MacOS8.5?

Changed QA contact to Marina. AS far as I know, Nscp 6.0 supports Mac 8.5.

my understanding is that we support MacOS 8.5 and 9.0, will test with RTM

In localized RTM it looks correct and setting auto-detect to JA works now, so i
would mark this bug as worksforme
