674361 - Changing Mozilla Blog Authors appearance

When checking out blogs like this, (http://blog.mozilla.com/blog/2011/06/28/firefox-in-the-enterprise/) clicking on the "jsullivan" icon in the blog post just takes the user to a list of all blog posts by jsullivan- so that doesn't really clarify who jsullivan is. Is there any way that the author can appear as a full name, along with a title or description that gives the reader an idea what role he/she plays with Mozilla? ---> (ex. http://mozillalabs.com/blog/2011/07/introducing-the-webfwd-fellow-program/)

Hey Craig. Take a look at comment #0...how easy/hard is that to do? Would it require much of a redesign? Basic goal is to provide a bit more biographical info about the author.

Easy. I can do it this week. 

Should we do the same on any other network blogs? Mobile and Future Releases are just slight variations on the same theme, it would be trivial to update those as well.

Any other theme tweaks while we're at it?

Awesome! I do think it would be beneficial to have these for the mobile and Future of Firefox blogs as well. Erica - any reason why not? I also think for now those are the only tweaks to the layout/feel of the blogs. Thanks all!

Sorry for the delay. I've updated the main blog, the Mobile blog, and the Releases blog in r93479. We'll need server-ops to push that to production, just a straight svn update.

You can see it previewed at http://wpstage.focalcurve.com/mozmobile/ on any single article page or author archive (the other two themes are pretty much the same, only a minor variation on the Releases blog since there's already a blue box in the sidebar).

Hey Craig - I actually don't see the changes in the preview link you sent. It still looks like the authors on the current Moz blog. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Sorry, I should clarify that authors haven't changed on the main blog pages (where several posts are shown), only on single posts pages like http://wpstage.focalcurve.com/mozmobile/2009/11/03/a-cool-firefox-add-on/ or on author archives pages like http://wpstage.focalcurve.com/mozmobile/author/craigcook/

On pages that show multiple posts (main pages, monthly archives, categories, search results, etc), each post still gets a small author attribution, but on other pages where there's only a single author to list, you'll see a larger bio in the sidebar. You can fill in your short bio and a website url by updating your profile in WordPress. There are some other fields for IM names but we're not displaying those.
