see this using 2001.02.05.08 comm verif bit on linux [used stubs installer,
fwiw]. not a problem on winNT, will check mac bits soon.

to observe:

open Preferences dialog, select Bookmarks category.

result: the panel doesn't display.
not a problem on mac either. marking pp, and nominating for beta1.
