Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110614 Firefox/3.6.18
Build ID: 20110614230723

Steps to reproduce:

When I try to organize my tabs into groups using the organizing screen, I was able to tear off a single tab into its own group. After that, for some reason, the tab search text box repeatedly becomes highlighted making it impossible to do anything other than exit the organizing screen. I cannot drag any other tabs around. Returning to the organizing screen continues this behavior and no dragging can be performed.
Just to add a little more detail, when I am in the tab organizing screen, all of the tab thumbnails are gray as if there is a non-matching search term entered (I haven't touched the search bar or typed anything in.)

If I purposefully type something in the search bar that matches some tabs, then those tabs become white (ungrayed.)
Also, the search text bar is always open unlike the video demonstration shown here http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups
I could not reproduce this issue on:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:9.0a1) Gecko/20110817 Firefox/9.0a1

Reporter, please can you confirm whether this issue is still reproducible when you start Firefox in safe mode or with a clean profile?http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
It still happens when starting in safe mode. I'll report back on fresh profile results.
It still happens when starting in safe mode. I'll report back on fresh profile results.
It also still happens when using a fresh/clean/empty profile.

I am certain it's due to this known issue with Dell laptops (mine is a Dell Vostro 1000) suffered by many people:

Also see:

FYI, when I run it via remote desktop from another computer into my laptop, the problem disappears.

¡Hola!

I believe this bug was related to the Panorama feature which was removed on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1222490
back on Firefox 45 per https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/45.0/releasenotes/

Marking WONTFIX for now.

Please do let me know if I'm mistaken and will be happy to re-open.

¡Gracias!
Alex
